Artistic Statement

Faye Shu is a non-formally trained “maker” working with video, film, and texts. She found her entrance into independent filmmaking through translating film scripts for feature film directors.

In her works, she explores underlying themes of living, solitude, and connections. She’s drawn to things falling scattered along a surface of attachment, the dynamics of in-betweenness, and the possibility of the encounter of the souls beyond the concept of a single, unified self. She desires to be re-enchanted by the marvel of living, of objects, and of a more broadly defined ecology.
